Challenge your child to retell the story. Help him or her remember key details by asking
the following questions:

• What did the angels tell Mary and Joseph? (Mary would have a baby who would be God’s Son.)

• What good news did the angel tell the shepherds? (“Your Savior has been born.”)

Read the following thought aloud to help increase your child’s understanding:

A savior is someone who rescues someone else. Sin creates a separation between us and God
that we cannot repair. Thankfully, God loved us enough to send Jesus, our Savior, to save us
from our sin and bring us back to Him.

Together, discover how this specific lesson ties into God’s Big Story. Read the following
aloud to your child:

Sin separates us from God. But God loves us so much that He made a plan to bring us back to
Him. God sent His Son, Jesus, to be our Savior
